Lunch at Water Vista Cafe: A Relaxing & Scenic Experience

Water Vista Cafe, Berowra Waters, Hornsby Shire

If you are looking for a place to enjoy a casual breakfast or lunch with your family, consider Water Vista Cafe. Located on the marina of Berowra Waters, right on the northern edge of the Hornsby Shire, this cafe offers a relaxing and scenic dining experience.

The cafe menu includes coffee and breakfast options, delicious cold drinks, simple seafood offerings, burgers and desserts. You can choose to sit inside the recently redecorated floral themed interior or outside under the verandah overlooking the beautiful waters of Berowra Creek. The cafe is also dog friendly, so you can bring your furry friend along.

The owner and staff at Water Vista Cafe are young and friendly, and they will make you feel welcome and comfortable. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, perfect for a laid-back weekend outing. You can enjoy the view of the boats and ducks bobbing in the tranquil waters while sipping your mocktail or eating your meal.

Nutella Shake
Kids Fish & Chips

The highlight of our lunch was the Nutella Shake ($11), which was nutty, creamy, and chocolatey. It was a treat for our taste buds and our daughter loved it. The cafe has a good kids menu with appropriate sized portions for small children. Little Miss 6 enjoyed her simple fish and chips ($10).

Fisherman’s Board

We ordered the Salt & Pepper Squid entree, Fisherman’s Board ($25) and the Battered Fish Tacos ($23). Overall, we found the food we ordered could do with some improvements.

Salt & Pepper Squid (entree)
Battered Fish Tacos

The “house avo salsa” in the tacos had too much cabbage and not much avocado or tomato. Although tasty, the portions of the mains were very small and could be improved with a bit more generosity and use of fresh seafood.

On a positive note, the chips were perfect – crispy on the outside, soft in the middle, with a generous coating of chicken salt. We saw the Wagyu Burger served to another table and experienced serious food envy and will probably order the burgers instead on our next visit.

If you want to visit Water Vista Cafe, you can book a table by calling the cafe. We’d recommend a booking if you wish to secure an outdoor table overlooking the water. The cafe can get busy on weekends, so it is better to book ahead or arrive early to avoid the crowds.

Despite our food-related reservations, we love this place for the location and ambiance, and to help support a young 21 year old entrepreneur in her first business venture. An improved menu featuring fresh seafood, combined with their wonderful drinks – refreshing mocktails and extravagant shakes – would really lift this cafe up to a whole new level.

We hope that Water Vista Cafe will continue to grow and improve its menu and quality. We would still recommend it if you’re looking for a relaxing experience with young kids. There is an added bonus of having Berowra Waters Playground with a fenced kids play area right next to the cafe, making this a very convenient option for a relaxing Sunday morning.
