In a heartwarming display of community resilience and spirit, Hornsby Shire has begun repairs and upgrades to the much-loved Wollundry Park Playground in Pennant Hills in mid June 2024.
The playground suffered irreparable damage due to vandalism in December 2023.
Wollundry Park Playground is a favorite spot for local families. It has shady trees and is close to cafes and the library. Because it’s so important to the community, the Council expedited the upgrade process and invited residents to vote on a new design.
The new playground, shaped by community feedback, will have a delightful nursery rhyme theme with bright, colorful equipment. Key features include a tall play tower and monkey bars, expanding play opportunities for older children – a much-requested addition.

Hornsby Shire Mayor, Philip Ruddock, visited the construction site last Thursday. He praised the community for their involvement and the staff for their quick work.
“I’m very proud of the community’s involvement and our staff’s hard work. The new Wollundry Park Playground will show the strength and resilience of Hornsby Shire,” said Mayor Ruddock.
Here at Hornsby Shire Mums, we’re eagerly looking forward to the reopening of this wonderful park in late July 2024 and seeing our community enjoy it once again.
